I really need work bad

Desperation and neediness are most unattractive qualities.

People can detect it, they can sense of it, and even if they can’t, candidates continue to spell it out for their potential employers through their communication.

First of all, it starts with an insecure way of thinking about your current situation.

If you are heading into communication with a potential employer, networking, phone screen, interview, and you have thoughts of:

  • I need this job to feed my kids;
  • I need this position or I will lose my house;
  • I have interviewed so much and nobody is hiring;

This will also reflect in your outward communication, and it comes across in simple statements so I want you to be aware.

You might not notice your communication but hiring people do – when you have statements like:

  • I really need this job;
  • I don’t have enough money to pay tolls;
  • I can’t afford a baby sitter;
  • I have to borrow a car from my parents;
  • I make more on unemployment;
  • My unemployment is running out that is why I am looking;
  • More worried about the pay and start date then earning the position;
  • Talking about nobody hiring;
  • Conveying how bad your life is going, your search is going;

How do you make the shift internally to change your desperation into inspiration? You need to shift what you focus on and what importance you put on those items. You need to look at what you are capable of, what you have accomplished, all the things you have. You can do it. You have what it takes to get a new position.

You can shift your thinking to –

  • I am strong and confident and nothing will stop me from getting this job
  • My past doesn’t equal the future and today is a new day in my search for a new position
  • I talk health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone I meet

You need to dim down and eliminate the pictures in your head about all the things you feel desperate about. The fact that you have a mortgage, that you have kids to take care, that you have a car to put gas in, are items you can be grateful about, focus on the positive pieces and utilize those pictures to bring up a more positive outlook.

You can change your feelings and when you come across with a feeling of more confidence, security and well-being your outer presentation will reflect the same.

That's my clink of change in your cup. Now go out there and find out where your success works.
