My Dog Ate My Phone

Happy New Year to all. I am hoping that 2010 will bring new opportunities to us. More and more people are being unemployed, it is more important then ever to make sure you present yourself in the best light at all times.

My goal of mydogatemyresume is to give you real stories, so you can see the results and learn from others mistakes. You can avoid very simple, and common mistakes that are keeping you from getting and or keeping a position.

I want you to look at the stories from the employers point of view, and you might realize why it is keeping people from working.

My Dog Ate My Phone and I didn’t know who to call.

I received a call from one of my customers regarding one of my contracted employees. "Have you heard from him? He is not here." Which is followed by, "He is no longer employed."

If your not feeling well, or even if you are feeling well and don’t want to go to work, you might want to at least contact someone regarding. Most companies have policies on who to contact regarding.

I am curious on the thought process of the individual, who doesn’t call in and gives the excuse I didn’t know who to call.

Well, let us see, you have my number at Jobco, which leads to my cell phone, the number is on the web, in the phone book, 411, on your checks, on the paperwork you have. Maybe start there.

Or you could have called your supervisor, who had a group meeting regarding the call off procedures.

Or come up with a better excuse, like, "Oh, I had to fly out of the country last night…." We will talk about that one tomorrow.

Want to keep a job? Just think, not even out side the box!

Final thought, this person was considered for other positions in the company before this happened. Now they will not be considered at all with any position, in the corporation because he was terminated.
